So after some traveling and being married for nearly a decade, Ray and I got to thinking…. it’s time for the next adventure…
….it’s baby time!
I met this guy for the first time on 6th August 1999 at a Counting Crows concert – we were jostling over the last t-shirt for sale at the merchandise table – he got the shirt – can you even handle!? Anyway long story short, I got the guy and the shirt in the end! Seriously though I am the luckiest girl alive to have ended up with this amazing human – for so many reasons (but I am not about to get all soppy here).
So back to ‘baby time’…. off we scoot to the doctor – excited much!? Check out that little blobby on the right! (I know you are thinking – you are kidding me right!? What the hec is that!!??) That’s our confirmation – we are going to be parents – big ‘wow’ moment!
Obviously the next step is progression shots right !?!
Then a little ‘baby moon’ getaway – to one of our fav spots in SA!!! Love Umngazi!!!
…and then the real deal professional maternity shoot with the uber-talented Ilse Moore Art and Photography at 32 weeks– a super fun experience!!! I would totally recommend her if you are looking to do something a bit different :)
Then something happened….it’s called ‘nesting’ or ‘nesting-super-over-drive’ or ‘the-never-ending-list-of-doom’ (you add to this list every time you can’t sleep at night in-between the now 6-8 loo breaks). Nesting is real (and scary!) – my poor husband!
I even got in there and did some plumbing with my epic pink tool kit (yes it stank that bad!)
….soooooo much cleaning, so much shopping and of course some ‘before and afters’.
After….
Before…..
After….
Before…
After….
….and then of course more progression shots (this is the last of it, promise)
So as I write this (we are over our due date) our little man should be arriving any day now – everything feels as ready as it can be (I mean can you ever really be 100% ready!?) – well at least it’s clean ;) Come see us when we get back from the hospital :) The next post will be introducing our new addition :) Yay! See you all on the flip side :)

Could I be more proud to have you as a sister…I think not! You are such an amazing, kind, caring and loving person Lex. You have the biggest of hearts, and between you and your equally perfect hubby (love you to the moon and back Ray) Kraken is coming into this world with the perfect grounding, even if he is a week or two or three late haha.
