Peter and Allayne met in High School and really started to get to know one another in Grade 11, when their friendship groups started spending more time together.
Allayne’s real passion is people and she has always wanted to be in a position to help others and see them develop, which is what she love’s about Organisational Psychology. She love’s spending time with family and friends, and value’s her relationships deeply. She is also a complete bookworm – on a perfect afternoon you would find her curled up on the couch with a glass of wine and a good book. Allayne love’s to travel and experience different cultures, and is looking forward to having many adventures with her new husband!
Peter is a medical doctor in his second year of internship. One of his secret skills is chess! Although he doesn’t play nationally any more, he still enjoy’s playing against his brothers at any given opportunity. He love’s sports, especially running and anything that involves a ball. He also really enjoy’s woodwork – for the wedding he handcrafted the ducks that we used for table decorations, and made the ring box, cufflink boxes for the groomsmen, and coaster holders which were given to their parents as gifts.
Allayne: “My first thought was that Peter was hilarious. He had, and still has, a way of making me laugh so hard that I cry. It’s one of the things I love most about him.”
Peter: “My first thought about Allayne was that it was really so easy to talk to her. We could talk about anything and never stop talking. That is still true today.”
First Date: “We were both so nervous! It was before either of us had a driver’s licence, so our parents dropped us off at the mall and we went to watch a movie. We spent the entire time chatting and nervously wondering if we should hold hands. I remember being completely blown away when Peter opened the car door for me at the end of the night, and thinking “this one’s a keeper!”
Proposal Story: “Peter and I travelled to England for his cousin’s wedding in July 2015. The morning after the wedding, Peter took me for a walk around the beautiful hotel gardens. He led me to a huge oak tree in the middle of a meadow of wildflowers and played me a video he had taken of him “asking permission” to marry me from our three year old niece, Shelby. It was so cute, I don’t think she knew what she was agreeing to but she was nodding her head very enthusiastically! Of course then I knew exactly what was going on and started crying as he went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He had arranged for some French champagne and pastries for us to enjoy under the oak tree as we soaked in the moment and called our parents with the happy news! We spent the rest of the day celebrating with his family, who were all still there for the wedding, sharing our news with friends and touring London. It was a magical day which neither of us will ever forget!”
Allayne: “I love Peter’s contagious enthusiasm for life! He is always excited to get involved in the next big adventure and it’s impossible not to get excited with him. He can always make me laugh with his “dad jokes”! He cares so deeply about his family and friends, and will go out of his way to make others feel loved. He gives the best hugs in the world, insists that he’s the only one who is allowed to wipe my tears away, and is a true romantic.”
Peter: “I love how Allayne is so genuine and caring. She is deeply loved by her friends and family, which is a reflection of how much she loves them. She is a devoted Christian, and an incredible woman who I am continually learning from. She accepts me for who I am and makes me want to be a better person for her. She is also fun loving and always up for a new adventure. She always sneaks in for a stealth hug and wants to talk about everything! And I find her breathtakingly beautiful.”
“We wanted our wedding to reflect our love for each other and for God, and for the day to have a natural, romantic feel. We also wanted our guests to have a lot of fun, as we love to laugh and be silly. Carolyn from Adore weddings took our vision for “romance” and translated this perfectly into our flowers and décor. We also included a lot of fun elements such as lawn games during canapés, a photo booth for the reception and the duck table decorations.”
“We just love being with each other and spending as much time as we can together and with our families. Both of us really enjoy the outdoors, and often spend our time picnicking, walking, talking and sharing with each other. We love to travel and make the most of any journey that we embark on, which is how we came to love the Natal Midlands. We also love to dance, and had the best time practicing our first dance for months before the wedding. Anything is fun as long as we’re together!”
“Right now just being able to share our lives and our home is an adventure! We are looking at buying a house together sometime in the next year or so, and would love to travel some more – so far we’re keen to explore Venice, Switzerland and the whole of South America. We are also really looking forward to having a family of our own one day, and can’t wait to adopt a puppy.”
